George W. Wotruba, Jr.
Of Prospect Heights

George W. Wotruba, Jr. was born on January 18, 1925 in Chicago to George and Barbara (nee Sehr) Wotruba. He passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in Prospect Heights.

Mr. Wotruba served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a graduate of Purdue University. He was the Director of Safety for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. George was a talented athlete and competed in basketball, baseball, football, bowling and was a scratch golfer, which became his true passion. As a young man he played AAA baseball for the Chicago Cubs. At a later age, George taught himself to play the banjo. He traveled the world with his wife of 64 years. George loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was loved by all.

George is survived by his children, Barbara Cirigliano, Nancy (Steve) Hyde, Jody (Michael) Seal and Amy (Tom) Barnard; grandchildren, Christina Cirigliano, J.P. (Justine) Cirigliano, Patrick (Fiance Rachel Brown) Hyde, Kevin Hyde, Michael Seal, Kelsey Seal and Bryk Barnard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (nee Koepke); his parents; and sister, Dolores (George) Rettig.

Services and Interment are private.
