Obituary for Salvatore Buzzelli

Salvatore Buzzelli
Of Mount Prospect

Salvatore Buzzelli was born December 13, 1935 in Chicago to Giovanni and Alice (nee Cassello) Buzzelli.  He died April 28, 2018 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Salvatore graduated from Austin High School in 1954 and then attended DeVry Technical Institute earning his degree in Radio and Television Servicing and Communications. He was called to serve his country in the 2d ARB 51st Infantry 4th Armored Division stationed in Germany. Returning to civilian life in 1960, he went to work at WLS(ABC) -TV in Chicago as a Broadcast Engineer in Master Control and stayed with the company for 39 years until he retired in 1999.    Salvatore (Sam) and his late wife Nora (Dolly) wed in 1964. They built their Mount Prospect home in 1968 and filled it with five lively children. The house became the Buzzelli family headquarters and remained so for fifty years. Sam enjoyed repairing his automobiles and tinkering with electronics and carpentry, building several doll houses for his daughters, nieces and granddaughters. He loved relaxing on family vacations to Michigan and Wisconsin every summer.  After sending their kids to college and retiring, Sam and Dolly traveled on many ocean voyages. As the family photographer and videographer, Sam documented his five grandchildren's every major and minor accomplishment. He loved Frank Sinatra and big band music and was a fabulous dancer. Sam and Dolly are dancing together again....

Salvatore is survived by his children Lisa (Daniel) Blanchard , John Buzzelli, Laura Buzzelli, Daniel Buzzelli and Mark Buzzelli; grandchildren Marissa Blanchard, Danielle Blanchard , Ryan Blanchard, Molly Buzzelli and Thomas Buzzelli; survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nora "Dolly" (nee Kilgallon) Buzzelli; his siblings Gilda (late Jim) Cavanaugh and Serafino (Bernardine) Buzzelli and by his parents.
