Jay Putzier was born on January 16, 1960 in Chicago, IL to Donald and Barbara (nee Flitcraft) Putzier. He died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at home. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1978. Jay attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and graduated with a BA degree in 1982.

Jay’s career in retail information technology spanned over 25 years, starting out in scan operations for IRI, building test markets across the country and managing field operations personnel instrumental in building IRI’s core retail data warehouse. He spent 2 years at ACNielsen as a Retail Systems Analyst before moving back to IRI as Director Retail Delivery Systems and ultimately Vice President, ITO Project Management. Jay also contracted with Sears as a project manager.

Jay enjoyed travelling, whether for business or pleasure. Sanibel Island, the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Lake Tahoe are a few of the places nearest and dearest to his heart, where he spent many vacations with family and good friends. He also loved to entertain in his home in Palatine, where he hosted Thanksgiving dinners and Taste of Palatine pre-parties.

Jay is survived by his sister, Julie (Winston) Helgesen and his niece Kailey Helgesen. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Peter Putzier.

A celebration of Jay's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave, Arlington Heights, IL, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00pm.
