Of Rolling Meadows 

Dr. Matthew M. Lombardi was born on February 8, 1933, in Chicago to Michael and Caroline (nee Haas) Lombardi. He died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. 

Dr. Lombardi had his dental practice in Palatine from which he retired in 1999 after 38 years of service. Graduated from Loyola University, College of Dental Surgery in 1961. 

Served in the U.S. Army Corps from 1954 to 1962. Received National Defense Service Medal Army of Occupation Medal in Germany. 

He was an active member of St. James Parish where he performed in many of their theatrical shows, Lectored at Mass, was an Eucharist Minister and active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. James.  He sang for several years with the Russell Wood Studio in Chicago. 

His interest and/or hobbies included gardening, fishing, walking, singing, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  
He was also known as the "Candy Man" at Rainbow Refreshments, Inc. 

Matthew is survived by his wife Bonita Lee Minaglia; his children Antionette (Gunter) Leprich, Camille Lombardi, Michael Lombardi, Vince (Kelly) Lombardi, Colette Longo-Lombardi,  Paul Lombardi and his step-children Rob (Alison) Minaglia, Joseph Minaglia (Leslie Boncosky), Mark (Robine) Minaglia and Richard (Donna) Minaglia: his grandchildren Miranda, Kaevon, Tim, Charmene, Nicole, Lauren, Matthew, Jennifer, Madeleine, Juliana, AJ, James Edward and Alexander; his great-grandchildren Kayla, Kira, Charlotte and Roman; his step-grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Annie, Garret, Patrick, Austin, Aubrie, Troy, Trent, Nicolas, Vincent, Dean and Noah; and his step great-grandchild Landon. He is also survived by several other step grand and great-grandchildren as well as other extended family members. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Irene J. Lombardi, to whom he was marreid for 49 years, his second wife Phyllis Ann Shields and his son Edward Lombardi. 

Visitation Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. James, 820 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
