Obituary for Doris Bloom Byron

Doris Bloom Byron, age 84, of Chester Springs, PA passed away on September 8th, 2019. She was born on June 5th, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John and Gertrude Bloom. Doris was the wife of the late Robert B. Byron, whom she married in 1963. They lived together in Chicago before Bob passed away in 1969. Doris later moved, after retirement, to Chester Springs, PA to live with her daughter Barbara and her growing family.

Doris is survived by her two loving daughters; Laura Fedje (Robert Fedje) of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Barbara Haas (Stanley Haas) of Chester Springs, PA and adoring grandchildren; Joseph and Benjamin Fedje, Margo, Grace, Mia and Cole Haas. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jackie Bloom but preceded in death by brother; John E. Bloom, sister Ruth L. Anderson and brother-in-law Ray Anderson. Doris cherished time with her nephews, Eric Anderson (Patricia), Bryan Bloom (Pamela) and their families, as well as Lee Anderson and the late Jeffry Bloom.

In addition to immediate family, Doris is survived by her adopted PA family of 19 years; a union orchestrated by God, who gratefully chose Doris as their loving “Grammy”; Sue and Dale Neff, Lisa and Kevin Fielder and Carolyn and Matthew Achuff and “great grandchildren” Jackson, Easton and Saylor Rae Fielder and Landon, Gavin and Cali Rae Achuff.

Doris graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago and worked for 22 years as the executive secretary to Sister Patricia Ann at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, Illinois and will be fondly remembered by the many friends with whom she worked over the years.

Doris loved nothing more than being surrounded by family and grandchildren, chatting until the wee hours of the night, reading countless political thrillers, and going to lunch with a girlfriends.  She loved a great puzzle, especially Thomas Kinkade, and always had one spread out on her kitchen table.

She will best be remembered for watching TV Land day and night, including Gunsmoke, Murder She Wrote and Golden Girls.  She was always up for a glass of fabulous brut champagne, bang bang shrimp (1/2 price on Wednesdays:), a great burger and pecan turtle chocolates. She was an amazing cook, loved for her fabulous breakfast and beef burgundy. But, most of all, she is remembered for loving her friends and family completely and unconditionally. All who had the great opportunity to know her, adored her.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, September 16th at The Orchard - Arlington Heights, 1330 North Douglas Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.  Friends will be received from 9:00-11:00 AM in church prior to the service.
