Obituary for Wilbert C. Weigel

Of Arlington Heights  

Wilbert C. Weigel was born on March 12, 1925 in Chicago to William Aloysius and Mabel Catherine (nee Buecking) Weigel. He died Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Arlington Heights. 

Mr. Weigel served in the United States Army during WW II, earning a Bronze Star Medal.  He earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He worked as a Manager of Management Science for Helene Curtis Industries of Chicago. Wilbert was a member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights.  He was an avid reader, loved history and travel with his wife, Dorothy.  His greatest devotion was to his family. 

Wilbert is survived by his children, Anne (Brian) Purrington, Judith (David) Raub, William Weigel and Joseph (Aileen) Weigel; grandchildren, Keith (Kristen) Purrington, Emily (Andrew) Hamann, Timothy (Theresa) Raub, Christopher (Laura) Raub, Diane (Christopher) Carr, Theresa (Cameron) Kroll, Benjamin (Katherine) Weigel, Melissa Weigel, Stephen Weigel, Sarah Weigel, Colin Weigel and Ian Weigel; great-granchildren, Margaret Purrington, Sydney Hamann, Piper Hamann, Rachel Raub, Laura Raub, Julia Raub, Genevieve Carr and Connor Weigel; sister-in-law, Kathy Weigel; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy C. Weigel (nee Victor); great-granddaughter, Morgan Hamann; parents; and brother, Leonard (Regina) Weigel. 

Visitation Friday, July 6, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL  60004. Visitation Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights, Illinois from 8:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 9:30 am.  Burial at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, Inc. 215 West Illinois, Suite 1C, Chicago, IL  60654 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
