Tom A. Mayfield
Of Prospect Heights

Tom A. Mayfield was born on November 21, 1929 in Waukegan to Cyril and Christine (nee Allie) Mayfield. He died Monday, August 13, 2018 in Park Ridge.

Mr. Mayfield recently retired from Closet Organizing Systems in East Dundee where his designing work provided him several awards and recognition in the field. He was an active member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Prospect Heights and served as treasurer of the Senior Fun Club of the parish. Tom loved to travel, sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, Barbershop Choirs, Drum Corps competitions, and musicals of all kind. He loved to spend time with his family and was loved by all.

Tom had a special talent of writing and his letters, notes, birthday and anniversary wishes, holiday and thank you cards will be missed by everyone who received them.

He served in the U.S. Army Active Reserve 85th Infantry Division Band from January 3, 1951 to January 2, 1957.

Tom is survived by his children, Wendy White and Paul Mayfield; grandchildren, Sonya (Eric) Krubsack, Haley Stenseth and Aubrey Mayfield; great-grandchildren Lillian and Kaylee Stenseth, siblings, Helen (the late Dr. M.) Atik and Philip A. (Elizabeth) Mayfield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Louise Mayfield.

Memorial Visitation, Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 9:30 am until the 10:30 am Funeral Mass at St. Alphonsus Liquori Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Hts., IL 60070. Interment is private.

On behalf of the family, a heart warm “Thank You” goes out to the doctor and nurses of Lutheran General Hospital and to his landlords, Darivsz and Monika Skorski for all their support to Tom.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Alphonsus Liguoni Church, Barbershop Harmony Society Youth Education Programs, 110 7th Ave North, Nashville, TN 37203 or any charity of your choice.
