Obituary for James A. Sublett

James A. Sublett
Of Arlington Heights 

James A. Sublett was born on August 22, 1922 in Campbellsville, KY to Chester and Eula (nee Bault) Sublett. He died Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Arlington Heights. 

He served in the United States Army during WWII as a radio technician(self taught) and awarded a Bronze Star. James worked as a computer technician for IBM in Chicago for over 30 years. He was a member of  the VFW and Edison Park United Methodist Church for over 50 years. James loved to garden, and could fix or build just about anything.  He was well known in the Edison Park area as the best handyman around. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren and was loved by all.  

James is survived by wife,  Lyla (nee Grider), children, Jennifer (John) Oswald, Jeannette (Michael) Kollios and James (Anna) Sublett; grandchildren, Thomas (Jill) Ferris, Bessie (James) Krupp, Nicholle (Sean) McHone, Matthew Kollios, Kyle Kempen, Kristen (Charles) Schulz, Krystle (Robert) Schrantz and Ashley (Joseph) Bechtold; great-grandchildren,, Michael Krupp, Timothy Krupp, Natalie McHone, Charlotte McHone, Georgia Kollios,  Lauren McHone,  Isabella Bechtold, Jordan Bechtold and James Schulz; siblings, Iva (the late Lee) Brown, Mae (Leroy) Knifley and Eurijah (Gerri) Sublett; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Adrian (Ruby) Sublett, Herman (Avonell) Sublett, Faye (Paul) Bennett and Winfry Sublett.  

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Edison Park United Methodist Church, 6740 North Oliphant Avenue, Chicago, IL  60631.   Interment is private.
