Irene Helen Soukup was born September 12, 1917 in Chicago to William and Stella (nee Matz) Grabowicz. She died Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Arlington Heights.

She worked as a retail sales clerk for J.C. Penney in Niles for over 25 years. Irene loved to cook and bake for her family and holiday gatherings. In earlier years she enjoyed sewing and needlework. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Irene is survived by her children, Richard (Linda) Soukup, Christine (Anthony) Esposito and Thomas (Jodie) Soukup; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Annalisa) Soukup, John (Carrie) Soukup, Michael (Kristin) Soukup; Jason (Faira) Esposito, Aaron Esposito, Stephen Esposito, Gina Aloisio and Nicholas (Jennifer) Aloisio; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, Joan Loarie and Judy Haseman.

She was preceded into death by her husband Richard J., to whom she was married for 51 years; her parents; siblings, Edmund Grabowicz, Virginia Nychay and Matthew Grabo.

Visitation Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 8:30 am until the 9:30 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 South Mitchell, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association, 8430 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite #800, Chicago, IL 60631. Funeral Information and condolences can be given at www.GlueckertFH.com or (847) 253-0168.
