Obituary for Gail C. Walton

Gail Carole Walton
Of Arlington Heights

Gail Carole Walton was born on May 15, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Arnold J. and Helen (nee Geremia) Greenberg. She died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Warren Barr in Lincolnshire, IL.

Mrs. Walton was a homemaker who loved to make family meals and volunteer her time to many different people and organizations. She could often be found crafting her own stationary or making clothes. Some of her greatest loves were her dogs, her family and her charity work.

She was a long time devoted member of the Boy Scouts of America serving as a den mother, truth committee chair, district commissioner, and helped train various scouts and adults in a variety of courses.

Mrs. Walton helped found and nurture the Hands Around the World cultural day camp for the Arlington Heights and surrounding communities designed to improve campers self-esteem while learning about various cultures.

Self-proclaimed as the “professional volunteer” she was always giving her time, love and energy to anyone that was smart enough to ask (and often even if they didn’t). Her volunteerism focused largely on the Boy Scouts of America and her Hands Around the World Camp; but it also extended to helping adoptive parents and encouraging others to emotionally support children from other ethnicities. Her mission was giving to and protecting others, especially children.

Her interests included playing cards and various types of crafting such as crewel work (especially cross-stitching), ceramics, instructional aides, painting and stationary. She wrote, edited and mailed out “Connections: For Parents of Children from India” in order to help adoptive parents with advice for raising and connecting with their adopted children.

Gail is survived by her husband Albert "Al" Walton; her children Rebecca "Becky" (John) Frech, Stephanie Walton and Ben (Brandi) Walton; her grandson Justin Frech and her sisters Jeanne Giambrone and Janice Ray; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
