Edward Lech
Of Arlington Heights  

Edward Lech was born June 9, 1920 in Cicero to Michael and Victoria (nee Wajda) Lech.  He died February 28, 2018 at Belmont Village in Buffalo Grove.   

Edward was a WWII Marine veteran.  He worked as a cable expeditor for 43 years at the Western Electric Hawthorne Plant.  Edward was a natural athlete, catcher for an American Legion baseball team in his youth and an avid bowler, golfer and Chicago sports fan throughout his life.  He married the love of his life, Alma, in 1949 and they had 59 years together before Alma passed away in 2008.  His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his granddaughters and great granddaughter.  He will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. 

Edward is survived by his daughter Sue (the late Dennis) Deahr; his granddaughters Julie (Jeff) Ivens and Jessica Deahr and by his great granddaughter Amanda Ivens. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Alma (nee Popp); his siblings Walter, Jack, Tom, Richard, Stephie, Lottie, Mae, Blanche and Anna and by his parents.

 Funeral and interment services private.

A celebration of Edward’s life will be held for family and close friends in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to  Homes For Our Troops, 6 Main St. Taunton, MA 02780.
